Jeremy Green answered on 16 Jun 2011:

Well, I almost did! I applied for a job at the BBC just after university and got to a second interview but didn’t get the job. At the time I was also applying to do a PhD in science, and since I didn’t know which way I wanted to go, I went with the PhD. I am lucky in being a generally enthusiastic and positive person, so either course would have been satisfying. Now I am pretty established as a scientist, I am thinking about trying to work more with the media. Doing “I’m a scientist” has been so much fun that it is encouraging me to go in that direction.
