Certainly yes. Antibiotics (things like penicillin, streptomycin, etc.) are quite “broad spectrum”: they will kill many different types of bacteria. So if you are given an antibiotic for, say, a bad chest infection, it will also stop a cut on your finger from getting infected. (By the way, most colds and chest infections are viruses, so antibiotics are useless for them.)
If you are short of certain nutrients (foods and vitamins) you may get multiple diseases, so your diet can be a “multiple disease” fighter too.

Like Jeremy says, antibiotics kill lots of different ‘bad bacteria’. They also kill lots of the ‘good bacteria’ inside you too. Inside our gut there are hundreds of different types of ‘good bacteria’ which help to keep us healthy – for example they help to prevent stomach bugs. The good new is, once you stop taking the antibiotic, the good bacteria come back again!
