On balance, yes it is. Why? It is forward-looking, usually noble and optimistic, you have a lot of freedom (I wear what I like, I can vary my hours, etc.), it is intellectually stimulating, highly unpredictable and you can make a difference.

It’s a wonderful feeling to do something good with your life and to have a job that means something – scientists work hard to the break boundaries of our knowledge, and often their work has significant impacts on other people’s lifes. I feel that being a scientist is more rewarding than other jobs, as I can pretty much decide what I want to do, when I want to (within limits!) and the things I do have big implications. Also, like Jeremy said, wearing what you want is a bonus!!

      HELLZ YEAH! 🙂

Being involved in science is one of the most rewarding careers you can choose!
Everyone has a different experience of being a scientist – some choose to stay and do research in their labs, others at their telescopes, some of them travel to distant lands to explore and research discoveries new and old. Others travel miles above the Earth’s atmosphere in an attempt to push the boundaries of human endurance and exploration. Some of us choose to communicate science to the public and to you guys 😉
You can do what ever you like in science! It is what you make of it. The choices all come down to you.
What do you want to do with your life? 🙂
