I’m not a physicist, but I do have a little background in physics and although I wish very much that warp speed will be achievable, I don’t think it will. Sorry!

I don’t know if it will, but it would be really cool, for sure! Think of how much more exploration of the universe we could do!

Hmmmm….knowing what we know now, not any time soon! Who knows though, it’s likely there is a lot about the universe we don’t know right now. The amazing thing about science-fiction, however, is that it is firmly grounded in real science! There are a lot of other ideas in Star Trek that are most definately achievable though – like cloaking shields, and particle transporters…lots of research is going on right now to develop invisibility cloaks, and in the very near future they may become commercially available. Also, scientists have recently transported an atom from one place to another instantaneously – there is a lot about quantum physics that we don’t know, but it is going to change our lives hugely in the near future!! Looking forward to it!

Believe it or not there is some serious research being done on this subject.
Our understanding of physics is undergoing a quiet revolution and over the next few years I believe some of our fundamental ideas about physics will be challenged and changed. Once we grasp this new physics we will be able to seriously think about how we can us it to help us overcome problems like super fast space travel 🙂
